A belated but official welcome to the Comprehensive Gastrointestinal Health team to Michelle!
Learn more about our fabulous registered nurse addition and don’t hesitate to reach out if Michelle or another member or our team can be of assistance.
After a career in business and accounting, Michelle decided in 2003 that it was time for a career change and transitioned into the medical field. She started as a patient care technician on a respiratory/trauma floor, then as a surgical technician for oral/maxillofacial surgeons. Michelle got an opportunity to work in gastroenterology in 2007 so she worked full time and went to school full time. Michelle has her Associates Degree of Nursing and is currently working on Bachelor’s degree (BSN) with Purdue University. Since 2007 she has worked in several major hospital systems throughout the Chicagoland area, and an ambulatory surgical center. Since 2007 Michelle has taken a special interest in nutrition and continues to study independently. She also has taken a special interest in infection control and continues to stay up to date with maintenance and guidelines.
Michelle takes pride in treating patients as a whole being. Diet and mind/gut connection play a key factor in gastroenterology. Michelle believes that the key to good nursing is good teaching. If the patient understands the cause and effects of their illness, then they will have a better understanding of the importance of dietary changes, behavioral changes, and/or medication regimen. Michelle took a strong interest in becoming a part of our team because of our office model, to have all aspects of gastroenterology care in one office to treat the patient as a whole being.
Michelle takes great pride in raising her son, and is an assistant coach of her son’s travel baseball team. She is a huge fan of the Chicago Cubs, Detroit Red Wings, and Chicago Bears. She loves staying active with sports, going to sporting events, and long bike rides with her son. Aside from nursing, Michelle’s passion is baking, which she loves creating healthier versions of sweet treats! When she makes time to relax, she and her son love going to the movies and are avid Marvel fans.
