Gastroenterologist
Dr. Lauren Bloomberg completed her undergraduate degree in biology at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She earned her Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) from Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine, where she received honors in bioethics. Dr. Bloomberg then completed her internal medicine residency at Loyola University Medical Center, where she received a medical education award recognizing her commitment to excellence in mentorship and teaching. She subsequently completed her gastroenterology and hepatology fellowship at Loyola, with additional specialized training in disorders of gut–brain interaction and dysmotility through the American Neurogastroenterology and Motility Society.
Dr. Bloomberg believes exceptional care is rooted in a strong, trusting partnership between physician and patient. She takes the time to listen and understand each patient as a whole person, recognizing that gastrointestinal symptoms do not occur in isolation, but within the context of a person’s daily life and overall well-being. Focusing on the full picture, Dr. Bloomberg works collaboratively with patients to develop evidence-based, individualized plans that align with their unique goals and values.
Dr. Bloomberg utilizes a multidisciplinary approach to care, integrating medications, endoscopy, nutrition, physical health, and mind–gut connection. She ensures that patients are educated, empowered, and active partners in their care to support long-term health. She is also dedicated to high-quality, guideline-driven screening for gastrointestinal cancers.
Dr. Bloomberg resides in the north suburbs of Chicago with her husband and daughter. Growing up in this community, she has a personal connection to this area and its patients. Outside of medicine, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, trying new recipes, practicing yoga and pilates, and being outdoors. As a proud graduate of the University of Wisconsin, she can be counted on to cheer on the Badgers through each season.
