It’s all about HABITS!
It’s all about HABITS!
By Libby Burger, RN
It’s a new year and, if you’re like me, you have made some New Year’s resolutions that you hope will have positive effects on your health. Maybe you are looking to improve your eating habits, take better care of your body by meditating or exercising, remember to take your medications or supplements, get plenty of sleep, or to schedule and keep those healthcare appointments. These are all great goals. Why does it seem that so many times we fall short? It all comes down to our habits. How do we successfully build “good” habits and why can’t we seem to ditch the “bad” ones once and for all?
Many of us at Comprehensive Gastrointestinal Health have read and are raving about the book Atomic Habits by James Clear. This book explains the important role habits play in every aspect of our lives. The entire time I was reading the book, I felt like I was repeatedly having those “light bulb” moments. One of the biggest takeaways is that it is the little things we do consistently over a period of time that have the biggest impact on our success. My understanding of how to create, integrate and sustain my habits has been completely changed.
If you would like to learn more about habits, I cannot recommend this book highly enough. Happy New Year and good luck with your resolutions!
